Writing East Midlands will work on projects to create opportunities for writers in the East Midlands. These will vary from site specific residencies for writers to larger literary festivals and events.

Bringing The Lyric Lounge into Museums and Libraries

Tuesday 27th October 09, 1-5pm – This afternoon of informal training, aimed at Museum and Library staff, will offer an insight into the management and ethos of the successful live literature festival.

Writers in Residence

Writers in Residence will establish a series of roles for writers based at a range of cultural and community organisations across the East Midlands region. This is a partnership project between the Literature Network and Writing East Midlands.

Alt.Fiction

Alt.Fiction will launch its new website in September and the date is set for the festival next June at QUAD in Derby with masterclasses in Alt.Fiction and Alt.Fiction author events leading up to the festival in the new year.

For seven days and seven nights, from 25th –31st July, The Y Theatre was transformed into a unique performance space celebrating the power of live literature – as part of the cultural programme for the Special Olympics.
