Biography

Jonathan Taylor is the author of Take Me Home: Parkinson’s, My Father, Myself, a memoir published by Granta Books in 2007. He is Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at De Montfort University, and co-director and co-founder of Crystal Clear Creators, an arts organisation which specialises in developing, recording, producing, publishing and promoting new writing, particularly for radio. He has written stories, prose pieces and articles for magazines and newspapers including Guardian Family, Times 2, Guardian Education, Times Literary Supplement, Times Higher, Stand, Staple, Coffee House, Family History Monthly, The Parkinson, Kimota, Raw Edge and many others. He has had stories, plays and interviews broadcast on radio stations across the country, including Oneword, BBC Radio 5,BBC Wales, BBC Scotland, local BBC radio stations, Resonance FM, Carillon, Takeover, Heat Rays, Heat FM and many others. He has performed his work in venues across the U.K., including Loughborough, Leicester, Liverpool, Birmingham, London, Kingston, Lowdham, Southampton, Nottingham, and elsewhere. He has organised and hosted public readings by many well-known writers, and open mic events. He is co-editor, with Maria Taylor, of Fizzle & Sizzle, a new anthology of writing by young Leicestershire authors. Academically speaking, he is the author of Science and Omniscience in Nineteenth-Century Literature (Sussex Academic Press, 2007) and Mastery and Slavery in Victorian Writing (Palgrave-Macmillan, 2003), as well as co-editor with Andrew Dix of Figures of Heresy (Sussex Academic Press, 2005).
