2023/24 Mentee

David Parkin

A child actor, David Parkin smashed things up in John Boorman’s ‘Hope and Glory’ and flew a boat into the sky in Mike Batt’s musical ‘The Hunting of the Snark’. He studied Drama and English at university, fell in with some creative types and formed multi-disciplinary art organisation, metro-boulot-dodo. During his fifteen years with them he headbutted a trifle live on stage, provided the voice for a pea that was high on ecstasy, and had to write poetry about bricks. Since going solo he has made a clinical depression concept album show, written a memoir about recovering from a brain injury, created a children’s book and musical about a disembodied talking nose and recently toured his exhibition about getting sectioned. He lives with his girlfriend, her daughter, a troubled dog and four cats of varying mental stability. Dave is 47, short and ginger. He enjoys reading, walking the dog and swearing.
