Speak Easy Spoken Word Collective

What is speak easy?

Local open mic nights.

Creative writing workshops.

Mentorship from established writers.

Performance opportunities.

The chance to meet and work with other aspiring poets.

And more – all for FREE!

Once a month Nottingham’s emerging spoken word talent meets, alternating between open mic nights and creative writing workshops lead by an established poet. While workshops are aimed at poets aged 15-25, open mics are open to all. You don’t have to join both to attend, and you can come along to as many or as few as you’d like! (Don’t forget – it’s all free!)

Speak Easy Spoken Word Collective

Organised by Nottingham creatives Abigail Hutchison, Charlie-Dawn Sadler and Joe Hoodmooring, and run in partnership with UNESCO, Speak Easy supports the career and craft development of local emerging poets. Through Speak Easy, young creatives gain access to networking opportunities, 1-1 advice from professional writers, exclusive chances to perform such as Unislam and free tickets to Writing East Midlands masterclasses.
