Founded in 2008 by the University of Leicester, the Literary Leicester festival is a major annual celebration of the written and spoken word. Proudly remaining 100% free and open to all, the festival regularly draws up to 5,000 attendees to campus and city venues. This festival is also the biggest literary celebration in Leicester featuring prominent voices across genres—from Booker Prize winners to historians, biographers, and poets. It also provides opportunities and workshops for young writers and new writers to perform and grow in their craft. Literary Leicester 2027 will be taking place on 17-20 March 2027.
