Celebrating Age – Elder Tree

The Connections project was designed for writers over the age of 55, living in Ashfield, Mansfield, Bolsover and North-East Derbyshire.

Beginning in January 2021 and running for ten-weeks, the group met online and focused on writing around the theme of connections. Many of the participants were new to Zoom, but were really put at ease by lead writer Cathy Grindrod and shadow writer Lizzy Dunford, who gently guided the group through a series of fun and friendly writing prompts, based on the topic of connections.

At the end of the ten-week course, participants produced a fantastic e-book full of poetry, which you can find on the website here. They also used their final session as a celebration to share some of the writing they had produced. Despite the fact that the group never met in person, they all felt very connected to one another through their writing journeys.
