Sonia Thompson

Sonia Thompson is a daughter of the Windrush generation. She fell in love with fantasy and science fiction at an early age, vowing to take her own stories out to the world. After a successful career in academia, she turned her back on writing academic articles and organisational reports, deciding to make storytelling her next vocation. Sonia has a deep passion for writing engaging fantasy stories, full of confident African Caribbean characters and where women are protagonists. In the stories she writes, there are duppys and jumbies, people eat curry goat and rice, they cream their skin and they oil their hair. These are the stories that she has always wanted to read and which she struggled to find on the bookshelves.
