Arvon x Obsidian Foundation: The Black Poetry Lectures 2026
Arvon is excited to partner with Obsidian Foundation to co-host The Black Poetry Lectures 2026 — an online lecture series running from June to October. Four award-winning poets will each explore a distinct region of the Black poetry canon — past and present — across Africa, America, the Caribbean, the UK and Europe. As Dr Nick Makoha puts it: “This is a space for the poet, the academic, the student and for readers, listeners, elders, and young people alike, anyone drawn to the depth and possibility of Black poetry.” The series features Victoria Adukwei Bulley, Roger Robinson, Lorna Goodison and Ama Asantewa Diaka. The first session, American Poetry with Roger Robinson takes place on 25 June. Each session is £10, with half-price concessions and fully funded places available. The series is not-for-profit and open to all.
